Hit and Run; Left to Die.

My Name is Wayne Blackburn
I was a hit and run victim at Ilbilbie on hwy #1 near Mackay by a four-wheel drive that left me to die! I went to overtake a car that had pulled over and it decided to do a U turn on the highway at where I had just passed the servo and I ended up in a paddock a bit busted up. I called for help but there was on one around, a bit later someone came along and saw my bike on the road and began looking for me, they found me and called the police and ambulance. All I can remember is pulling my leg out from around behind my back and making it straight again and then I realized that my left shoulder was broken as well and I could barely move. The Hospital basically put me back together over a period of four weeks of surgery with pins and plates.

I spent seven weeks in hospital and eighteen months of rehabilitation. I had some bad damage to my left foot and thought that they might take it off, but they left it alone for a while and it healed, but upon healing it began turning into a "club foot", they decided to have a go at straightening it up and they succeeded. I also had a bowed leg and they straightened that as well but it took some 12 to 18 months later and a lot of hard work by the physio's, myself and heaps of trusting the Lord to make it all right again. One thing that did help on the road to recovery was a sense of humor; a big thank you goes to Sharon at the same time as all this was happening for all her help and support.

I had known the lord for a long time, I would ask the lord why did this happen to me? I have learned that Satan comes to rob kill and destroy and that's what he tried to make happen here. He didn't just stop there either, I was having trouble with my marriage and I looked over the fence just long enough for the Devil to get a grip on me and I just about got destroyed by that also. But God is full of grace and mercy!

I went to my church family that I had, they lovingly helped me to put my life back together and I was invited to go to a church called the River of Life. Pastor Barry and Karren were great to me, not only them but also Lex and Ronda also, they were my house church pastors and they said that I could go to their house church; I loved it there. I love riding for the boss! He is the best, his name is Jesus! We ride together with the wind in our face and the sun on our back. I might be a bit bent buckled still, but I am in one piece and made whole. I serve the Lord Jesus Christ with all I got and all that I am. I wear a badge that says "forgiven sinners" because that is what I am, a forgiven Sinner and by his grace I am saved, I never forget where I have come from, what God has done for me, and I always look ahead to where I am going. I am Heaven bound!
