Entertaining Angels
I would like to share two events of my life with everyone that I have not shared with many people before. When I was 16 yrs of age, I was a newly saved teenager as I had just seen the power of God raise my mother from her death bed. I was out west of Brisbane fruit picking, well trying to anyway, we had got there too late for the potatoes and too early for the water melons, I had been praying and asking God for help and work, we had walked many miles over many days and nothing had eventuated when we decided to head back to Gatton and go to the "Dole" office for casual work. We couldn't make it back before dark so we camped out in a rest area with only a sleeping bag between me and my mate "Tex" to lay on, there were these mighty big green balls with thorns on them that were an inch long and as sharp as, they were everywhere on the ground. So we crashed for the night, at 1:15am in the moring I awoke to hear someone calling my name from the road which was about 100 metres away, I rollded over to see who it was and rolled onto one of those prickles which jabbed me in the thigh and hurt like crazy. I looked up to see a masive white figure glistening in the night standing at the edge of the road, he spoke to me and said "Ross go home as I have a job for you". It was like he was inside me and all around me at the same time, I did not comprehend what he had said, so he said it again, ":Ross go home for I have work for you". I just stared and did nothing, he repeated a thrid time, "Ross go home I have work for you" this time I understood, I think, and as I blinked he dissapeared. I awoke in the morning and my thingh was swollen and sore, I could still hear the voice, I can still hear what he said today, it is hard to expalin. I turned to my mate Tex and said I am going home, last night God told me to go home he had work for me, I saw an Angel, well Tex thoguht I had really tripped and lost it. We walked to gatton, he went to the "Dole Office" and I turned toward home - Brisbane. As I walked I said ":God I got no money, no transport and no idea of the way home, If that was you, you better help me out here" I put my thumb out and the very first car that came along was a car load of Aboriginal business men who were going to Brisbane, they dropped me off right at the train staion near the PA Hospital. I knew as it was lunch time that there were going to be many ticket sellers on the trains, so I got on in the last cariage, the very next stop a ticket seller got on the train and sat at the opposite end of the carriage from me looking straight at me. It was like he couldn't see me, he was just staring, I felt like waving at him to see if he waved back but I wasn't game, he got off half way to Wynnum, I arrived at Wynnum dumb founded. I walked the short distance home scared that my mother was going to hit the roof because I came home with no money and no work, she was in the garden and when she saw me, all she said was "there is a phone number for you upstairs to ring" it was really weired. So I went upstairs and rang the number, it didn't even ring, but a voice on the other end began saying hello hello, and I was doing the same, we eventually figured out who we were and what had happened when the man said he had picked up the phone to give my job away to someone else at the same time that I rang. He was dumb founded as he was told by my mother I was out bush fruit picking, I was dumb founded as to what the Queensland Railways wanted with me?? He spoke to me for a while, then organised for me to go for a medical on the next day and started work the next week in the railways. Tell me all of that was coincidence!!
Second Event It was a normal Thursday night visit to our friendly Christian Book shop at Eight Mile Plains. My wife and I were talking with Joy the owner of the shop when another lady ran in yelling "quick call an ambulance". I sked what had happened and she said someone had been run over on the main road. I ran outside to see an Aboriginal man lying in the middle of the road with skin off him everywhere, Joy rang the ambulance and I relayed to them the mans' condition, I rolled him onto his side in the recover position and checked his pulse and vitals, he was ok, but unconcious. I was holding his head up off the road and for some unknown (at the time) stupid reason I cried out "God protect him" everyone back away from me. Then I heard a noise behind me, the next minute another man came running in and kicked the fella on the ground so hard that his whole body liffted off the road, it was a sickening thud! I could not do anything as I was holding the mans head up, I turned to the person and yelled at him to "back off" he was swearing and cursing and carrying on, and was backing up and getting ready to come in for another kick. I quickly thought, the last kick if it didn't break this guys back the next one will, what could I do? I spread my body across the mans back and got ready to take the kick for him, it all happened so fast! I was tensing my body when I eard a voice beside me, say "back off". The other man backed off and took off like a bullet, I turned my head to see a Maori man standing there, well dressed in a dark blue penguin polo shirt and dark trousers, and shoes, he was clean cut and very well built to say the least, no wonder the other bloke took off! He asked me if I was alright, I replied "yes, thank you for your help and I really appreciated it", I am not a tough peson by any means and I wasn't looking forward to getting a kicking. He said "you are safe now and that he would be going", I thanked him again and asked him where he came from, he ignored me, I told him that I was lucky that he came along or I would have copped a flogging and thanked him again. He said "all was ok now and he would be going" as we could hear the sirens in the distance, and so I thanked him yet again and he walked away. The police came, there were statements and everything and I looked for the Kiwi guy but he had already left, the aborignal man had been taken to hospital and the assailant to the watch house. Later that night back at home, when the adrenalin had stopped pumping and my wife and I were washing the dishes we talked of the events of the night. I mentioned the Kiwi looking guy and how lucky I was that he was there, my wife looked at me stupide like and asked "what Kiwi guy"? I expalined the whole thign again, she laughed at me and said there was no one there, we argued about it, then she said "ring Joy and ask her she was knealing opposite you praying for the guy", so I did. I spoke to Joy and we spoke about the events and I mentinoed the Kiwi guy, she too laughed and said "what Kiwi, guy"? I argued with her as well, this was getting freaky, had I lost my mind? Then Joy said to me, "I saw you talking to someone but there was no one there, I wondered what you were doing, you saw an Angel"! Others who were also at the scene said exactly the same thing!! I was speechless for three days or so until my Pastor asked me what was wrong (I worked in the church as an assistant Pastor) he asked me to come into his office, we talked a while and then I got the courage to tell him what happened, he verified my story with the lady from the shop and my wife, he asked me to share it in church but I couldn't as I was still pretty freeked out about it! Some time later, I did share it with the church, but with reservations, I can still see that mans face today, I know he was there, I know he was real, and he didn't look like no Angel. or No
