The Origin
of

"Bikers 4 Christ"
Christian
Motorcyclists
Fellowship

Bikers for Christ were originally formed in approximately 1986 by a couple of blokes that attended Clark Taylor's church Christian Outreach Centre at Mansfield. David Honan being one of them who is still around and an honorary member today was one of the original founders with the original vision. Within weeks a group of a dozen men and women began meeting in homes and discussing what God wanted to do with Christian Bikers in general. My Name is Roscoe.

Dave on his trusty old Honda 4, the days when everything was painted black, black or black, then again mat black was good too!

The only Bike Dave owned that was not Black was a Harley, now that is different!

As we had that one thing in common "Riding bikes" we decided to start monthly rides, then we started going to monthly Bike Rallies as well and before we knew it we were attending an event of some description almost every fortnight. It was great as the ones who were married had no kids and the rest were single and able to do as they pleased so there was always plenty of members to be utilized as there is also today.

One of the many camp over Rallies we went on Left to Right is Brett, Sharon, Rod, Dave, Mark and Diesel. Rain Hail or shine we were going! Many times especially on this one we could not even see the bike in front due to the fog in the mountains.

I was part of and one of the original members of Christ's Ambassadors Christian Motorcycle Club at the time, they had already started a couple of years prior but missed the mark by deciding to minister to outlaw bikers only; As my older brother was the member of an outlaw club I introduced them into the outlaw scene. As Christ's Ambassadors moved away into ministering to outlaws they forgot the average motorcycle rider, and this is where I saw the need and eventually met up with David and his friends. Over a period of a few months eventually a patch was designed and an outline of what Bikers for Christ was to be all about was written up, we were up and running, it lasted for about 4 years leading many to the Lord, doing many good works, the fruit of it all was bountiful with a home group going, visiting youth groups and bike rallies as well as having our own social events.

Kids love Motorcycles! One of many youth groups we ministered with.

We had the blessing of Christian Outreach Centre and Pastor Clark Taylor for most of these years with him even cordoning off a section of the car park especially for us to park our bikes. I met up with Pastor Clark Taylor again in 2002 and he still remembered me, he would have been the best Pastor in Brisbane at that time as he gave everyone a fair go including us where most bikers were not even accepted into churches because we had long hair, tattoos and sometimes after a long day of riding we would turn up at church a bit smelly.

Another Rally, there is nothing better than sitting around a camp fire, getting it going is the problem, a bit of fuel from a bike is my old trick, but I could never figure why people took the bolt? This is Brett, Me (Roscoe), Mark, Dave, Sharon, Duke the Bluey in the background.

Me and wife Sharon enjoying the smoke from the fire. The idea is to have the largest fire in the rally and then when at night everyone else's fire runs out, they came to ours, with someone playing a guitar we would have ourselves a great time around the fire and sharing with others.

Eventually I was made president of Bikers for Christ as David and the others had stepped away for different reasons. So a few of us took over the reigns with me as President, Tino as Treasurer and I cannot remember who was vice president, Tino's girl friend was secretary I think. Tino was an excellent rider but Brett did not know how to keep his front wheel on the ground and was trying to encourage them to pop mono's, Esther threatened Tino with murder if he did it!

After a couple of years I made a bad decision to amalgamate with Christian Motorcyclists Association, which had also started in Brisbane. Within months I had a falling out and over the organization of a bike rally, which went horribly wrong and backslid myself for 4 years and in the mean time almost got killed in a major accident running into the side of a van at 80Klm/hr.

My Yamaha XJ 750 before

and after the accident

The bike was bent in half as per my wheel distance from front to back, the police say I was lucky to be alive, not really I reckon God was just taking care of me.

I eventually rededicated my life and joined Tribe of Judah Motorcycle Ministries. I had met Terry Walker through supplying aluminum for his little security business. I began fellowshipping with them and attended Christian Outreach Center Bible College and received my diploma of Ministry. Terry soon made me his assistant Pastor and I stayed there for 5 years as a Pastor and an administrator as well, setting up computer systems, Government Grants and helping to start a TV Ministry with a computer system. I also went out as an itinerate minister to support my family as I did not receive a wage at the Tribe of Judah. I really loved teaching at different churches and that is where my heart was to minister to people in mainline churches, I have a pic of me in a suit but I look horrible, maybe one day I will put it up?.

Things started to go wrong at the Tribe of Judah, I did not like what I saw, heard and was involved with. Although Terry Walker had taught me much, I was no longer being fed spiritually and I felt like I was living a lie, it was not the calling on my life although many "Men" said that it was, the Holy Spirit was saying get out. I ended up going through a stage of burn out. Resigning from being a Patch member and Pastor and taking two years away from ministry which leads to today June 2003.

In this time I felt and saw the need for the average motorcycle rider to hear the Gospel as nobody was approaching them, therefore I started Bikers for Christ again but with the number 4 instead the word for.

Out with the Old

In with the New

A different style of banner and a little more colour although the new shield (not a patch) is a navy blue, the old was a royal blue.

I had kept in contact with David throughout the years of approximately 15 or so and he has helped me to get the vision back again along with some of the new guys that ride with us. We have home churches during the week encouraging others to be involved in the local church and outreaching to Bikers, Outlaws, Street kids, and whoever will listen. Our main aim is to share the love of God with each other and other riders as well, as this is what Jesus done. IT IS NOT THE PASTORS JOB AS MANY THINK! It is up to you and me! Your pastor has plenty to do and we need to do our part as well.

The Shield as it is called is slightly different from the original one as you can see; Bikers 4 Christ also is no longer called a ministry but is rather a "Statement" or known also as a "fellowship". More so than a name. It was, and is called a shield so as not to offend any other club or association (sounds silly now, but it was needed at the time).

Gymkhana events at rallies are my favourite. Unfortunately I was known as the rally clown and someone sent these pics below anonymously to me, whenever I started my bike at a rally every one got their cameras ready

Please browse through our pages and enjoy your stay. Feel free to contact us regarding anything and we will help where possible, we don't have fancy buildings or try and con you out of your money, as we believe God has blessed us to be a blessing to others, financially, spiritually, and practically.

I am a registered chaplain and Marriage Celebrant and I have accountability to the Senior Pastor of my church, and 3 other people who have walked with the Lord for many years, as well as directors within Bikers 4 Christ. This is not a fly by night thing nor a self appointed one or someone seeking to build up a kingdom or name for ourselves like many unfortunately do today amongst the Christian community.

Bikers 4 Christ Today...

"The Shield" as it is affectionately known is placed over the heart on a vest or the right hand sleeve of a leather jacket. It is not and never will be a patch to go the back of a vest!

This picture is the actual shield scanned as it is embroidered

Come join us in our ride for salvation through
Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour!

  • "Bikers 4 Christ" is not the name of a club, association, or ministry; it is our statement and what we stand for!
  • We declare that we are "Bikers 4 Christ" and that we want to find more people like us that want to be "Bikers 4 Christ".
  • we are about helping and leading each other to be better Christians through our Lord Jesus Christ for God!
  • In the corner of our shield of "Bikers 4 Christ" that we wear so proudly, it contains L4J on the left side and R4J on the right sides of the banner, this stands for Live 4 Jesus and Ride 4 Jesus!

Our motto is:

One Lord, One faith, One Baptism

This is found in Ephesians 4v1-6 and can be explained that we all have:

"One Lord" - Jesus Christ the Son of God.

"One Faith" - trust in the word of God = Jesus Christ.

"One Baptism" - into one body being Jesus Christ our lord saviour"

We have weekly house church meetings, sometimes midweek rides, monthly rides, and monthly newsletter for those who associate as Bikers 4 Christ in some way. If you would like a copy of the latest newsletter (also available online) drop us a line with your name and address, we will send it to you for three months FREE, after this a Yearly subscription of $15 is required to cover costs. Currently there are Bikers 4 Christ and Associates throughout Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Gold Coast, Gladstone, Mackay and Bowen, Cairns and Townsville in Far North Queensland and now expanding into NSW with members in Sydney and we have enquiries from Victoria we are also expanding over to the USA and it may be expanding soon to the UK.

Various Registered riders within Bikers 4 Christ have their own ministry "areas" working with outlaw bikers, Street Kids, Surfies, Children, The Internet, Bike Rallies, Hospitals, Street People and Business Men, Jails etc. These areas are not "Bikers 4 Christ" organized outreach programs as such but individuals who have already worked and continue to work in these areas. As Bikers 4 Christ we support each other in helping each other where ever possible financially, spiritually and physically. We also enjoy supporting other Bike Groups, being Christian clubs or not, or any other Community events such as schools, fetes and sporting associations.

We also enjoy the opportunity to Minister to local church groups such as youth groups or the Sunday services or Home fellowship groups.

Freely we have received so freely we give according to Matthew 10v8. We will come and minister to any size group for free within the south east region, I myself (Roscoe) have completed a diploma of Ministry in 1996, I am a registered chaplain with the ACC, a holder of a current Government "Blue Card" and have a gift of teaching and encouragement on my life, I am also registered as an Australian Marriage Celebrant. Many of us in Bikers 4 Christ are willing to share how God has changed our life and can change your life.

We don't have membership as we are not a club! What we do have is a mission statement, statement of belief and requirements for registration to purchase a Biker 4 Christ shield or be an Associate.

Our Mission Statement.

Mat 28:17-20 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

  • Bikers For Christ is not a "Club", "Association" or "Ministry". It is a Statement! We are not to judge or shoot the wounded or the hurting, but sculpturally exhort, encourage and pick them up with the love and grace of God where possible and encourage one another to continue in our Christian walk.
  • We believe in one God being the heavenly Father and creator of all things, his son Jesus Christ who came in the flesh and died and rose again 3 days later, with the return of the Holy Spirit to guide believers through their walk with Jesus and that salvation is by grace alone through faith and that Jesus shall return some day to receive his people unto himself.
  • We are - Bikers for Christ! We declare this in the spirit and to the world! We are a diverse Christian Motorcyclist's Fellowship from various backgrounds and denominations where we minister and fellowship with one another.
  • We are to uplift the name of Jesus at all times in all places and all ways as a witness whether it be individually or corporately as one body of Christ regardless of denomination or beliefs.
  • We provide fellowship amongst a diverse Christian Biker community without argument or attempt to convert or convince one another that a particular doctrine is right or another is wrong. Everyone is entitled to his or her belief and this is to remain that way apart from our statement of belief.
  • We uplift one another and will support any local church or community organization or other motorcycle group where possible thereby putting the love of God into practice.
  • We pray for one another and meet physical and spiritual needs of each member where possible.
  • We enjoy rides together as well as taking the opportunity to witness to the lost at the same time inviting non Christian Riders and riding to places where other Bikers meet to build friendships and share the Gospel of salvation in Jesus.
  • We encourage Non Christian bikers along on rides with the hope of having them see Jesus in us thereby giving their life to Jesus and be placed in a church with another member to be disciples

Slow down some! God is not in a hurry.

Statement of Faith

THE BIBLE is the inspired Word of God, the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as the Holy Spirit moved them and a guide in matters pertaining to doctrine, direction, correction and reproof. (II Tim 3:16, I Thess 2:13, II Peter 1:21)

GOD is one, but manifested in three persons - The Father (God), The Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. (Phil 2:6, John 14:28, John 16:28, John 1:14, John 1:1, John 1:18, John 1:14).

JESUS CHRIST the only begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died, buried, and resurrected, ascended into heaven, and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father, and is true God and true man. (John 1:1-2, I Tim 3:16, Phil 2:9-11, Matt 1:23, Luke 1:31,35, II Cor 5:21, Matt 28:6, Acts 1:9-11, Heb 7:25, Heb 1:3)

MAN is made in the likeness and image of God, but, through Adam's transgression and fall, sin came into the world. Jesus Christ, gave His life and shed His blood to redeem mankind back to God. Salvation is the gift of God to man, it cannot be obtained by works or the law, but is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. (Eph 2:8 Rom 5:14, Rom 3:10, Rom 3:24, I John 3:8)

SALVATION is Man's first step toward God, repentance of Sin and asking Jesus into your life. (II Cor 7:10, I John 5:12, John 3:3-5)

WATER BAPTISM by immersion is by choice and for believers only. (Matt 28:19, Rom 6:4, Col 2:12, Acts 8:36-39).

BAPTISM IN THE HOLY GHOST is a gift from God to all believers and is additional to “Salvation” but of personal choice. (Matt 3:11, John 14:16-17, Acts 1:9, Act 2:38-39, Acts 19:1-7, Acts 2:4)

DIVINE HEALING is for all and is wrought by the power of God in the name of Jesus and prayer. It is provided for on the cross. (Mark 16:18, James 5:14-15, I Peter 2:24, Matt 8:1-17, Isa 53:4-5)

RESURRECTION OF THE JUST AND THE RETURN OF OUR LORD The angels said to Jesus' disciple, "This same Jesus shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven." His coming is imminent. (Acts 1:11, I Thess 4:16-17).

HELL AND ETERNAL RETRIBUTION The one who physically dies in sin without accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire. (Heb 9:27, Rev 19:20)
