2006 Inaugural Biker Blessing .....

Below are some pics of a Bikers Blessing we attended in January hosted by the Redlands Ulysses by their welfare officer who also happened to be an Assistant Pastor at the Carina Church of Nazarene. To start with, what is a Biker Blessing? I had heard of them in the USA but not here in Australia.

So we went along to find out and support a brother in Christ and another bike group. To our surprise (we expected a handful) there would have been close to 100 bikes at the blessing service and around 60 went on the scenic tour and lunch afterward.

These pictures are courtesy of Pez from Brisbane H.O.G as yours truly web editor left his camera at home, thanks mate.

As we arrived a huge sign greets us on the main road to the church. A Picture you most likely have never seen in Australia before

As bikers arrive old friends and aquaintenances cath up. There were that many bikes we could have had a show and shine at the same time.

Inside the medium size church of Nazarene, various speakers spoke explaining the reason for the Bikers Blessing. A way to start the year of seeking God's protection on riders in place of finishing the year with a memorial service. The Pastor who wasn't a Biker certainly done his homework and had the audience in a fit of giggles many times with his tories and antics.

Afterwards everyone gathers outside for a excellent morning tea put on by the church of Nazarene. The food was in abundance and a great time was had by all.

Well, we could only try and fit everyone into the picture, I had left my camera at home not expecting so many bikers to turn up, and the photographer here didn't have his wide angle lense! Well praise God it was a good day and thanks to pez from the H.O.G Club for sharing some of his pictures with me.

OK Guys and gals, time to hit the road! Not litterally of course a quick show of hands reveals about 60 people joining the scenic tour to the pub on the bay for a counter lunch, a quick phone call ahead to prewarn them and we set off.

The group was spread out for miles weaving in and out through local traffic and back streets. A couple of times we would pull up to regroup and go again and it took us 2 hrs to travel 30 or so Kilometres to the pub, the long way around of course. This is a typical Ulysses ride, they might only finish up a few Kilometres from the start but they sure doknow how to take the long and scenic way around, great ride guys - Thanks!

At the pub, organisers let everyone know that the next major event is another Ulysses ride where they will be attempting to break the Australian record of Bikers riding through a pub (litterally) at Aratula on April the 8th. See our home page for more details. At the time of the Bikers Blessing they were expecting 1,000 Bikers. There will be free camping stalls and the works, a $5 donation will go to the local community.

More coming soon. Keep up now!!
