Combat Veterans Poker Run in the North Coast.....

Click on any picture to enlarge. Some may take time!

August 2005 we head off to the Ettamogah pub again for annual pilgrimage to the Combat Veterans Poker Run which takes in some really nice scenery. Unfortunately everyone thought I was away and decided not to go but I had got back the night before from my ill dad up north at hervey bay.

One of the five Pubs we stooped at. If you don't know what happens on a Poker Run you don't know nothing! They are good fun!!!

It is where on this day we had 103 bikes, I know that because I was the last one there to sign up and my number was 103, and we head off to four different pubs (Hotels for the educated) and draw another card. Along the way we enjoy the scenery of mountain riding, and the mateship of Bikers like the combat Vets who are a great bunch of guys.

Michael (also known as hangy) is busted at the bar! The look on his face and the folded arms are saying to me, "no I haven't got a beer in my hand". There was myself (Roscoe), Ray and Michael being the only 3 Bikers 4 Christ on the ride, another had turned up at the beginning to say Hi to us but he had a prior engagement to attend to so couldn't make the ride, at least he stopped in to say Hi.

What is that!! Yes I know that is a Harley in the background, but what is a Bimota? Sounds like a racing bike and looks a little like one too! Looks for racing across deserts too maybe??

Now I am not a Harley person, although we have Harley riders in Bikers 4 Christ, but this was one real nice Harley chopper. Plain, straight, no gimmicks on it and a very clean piece of machinery, and it wasn't black which is why it caught my eye. A Beautiful bike and would do the owner/builder proud.

Hangy again (can't find Ray) now I know why they call him "hangy" hanging onto the posts makes me wonder if he has been drinking coke or rum and coke?? Obviously coke, we have an unwritten code that we don't drink alcohol on rides or with our regalia displayed in public. What members do in their private life as per drinking is between them and God.

The final Hotel, everyone sites around waiting for the results!

Finally found Ray standing in the background with choppers shirt on, we have all recorded our 5 cards, whoever has the best poker hand wins first prize 4 days on a houseboat in the sandy straight, I have 2 kings and 2 sevens and 4, fingers crossed? The winner had a straight, second price was a weekend on a houseboat went to 3 jacks. Oh well, maybe next year!!
